The Association of Inbound Agencies of Serbia URA

The Association of Inbound Agencies of Serbia (URA) was established in 2019 through a joint initiative of inbound tourism agencies in Serbia, aiming to collectively influence positive changes in legislation and the treatment of inbound tourism agencies. The founding assembly of URA was held on April 1, 2019, at Terazije. Initially, 20 travel agency organizers joined the association, and over the next three years, an additional 4 inbound agencies joined. From its establishment to the present day, the association’s members have influenced the creation of new legal acts concerning the inbound branch of tourism in Serbia through joint initiatives…

According to the Tourism Law of the Republic of Serbia, a destination management company (DMC) is a commercial company or other legal entity, specialized for a specific destination or region, with adequate knowledge of tourist resources, staff trained to create, organize, and execute tourist programs and travels, to mediate in providing stay, accommodation, entertainment, excursions, guide services, transfers, and other services, connecting with all who provide services at that destination, all for the purpose of providing professional, high-quality tourist services.

Considering that it’s nearly impossible to be an expert on all destinations, the help and support of the right DMC for a specific destination are more than welcome. A true DMC knows the language, customs, local market, and local suppliers. Also, the local DMC will make the right activity suggestions for your group, propose new and current places at the destination, things that are must-see, and things that should be avoided.

Many agents and companies fall into the trap of thinking that they can organize a specific event or incentive trip in a foreign country by themselves, without the support of a local DMC partner. Of course, for some simpler projects, such as a two-day event in a hotel that does not include additional off-site activities, some agents might rightly decide to execute the event with the assistance of one of the hotel’s event managers. On the other hand, most events organized in Serbia involve incorporating multiple suppliers from various industries, sometimes even over 20! The time spent on communication with all of them can be measured in months, or in hundreds of emails.
